Joannis Katsoulis, Prof. Dr. med. dent., MAS, serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland. He is trained in Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry with focus on computer-assisted technologies for implant planning, placement and prosthesis fabrication in edentulous and special care patients. He conducts clinical and laboratory research projects with CAD/CAM titanium and zirconium restorations. He teaches pre- and postgraduate students in the School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland and is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia, PA, USA. Prof. Katsoulis is currently the President of the scientific committee of the Swiss Society for Reconstructive Dentistry SSRD.

Prof. Katsoulis currently chairs the clinical courses in prosthodontics for pregraduate students and supervises the implant planning and clinical treatment provided by postdoctoral students in the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern, CH.

Research and Review Activities

Prof. Katsoulis’ research interests include computer-assisted technologies in implant dentistry, clinical approaches and new materials for CAD/CAM reconstructions with focus on implant-supported restorations for edentulous and special care patients. He has conducted his research projects mainly in the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern and in parts in collaboration with the Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia, PA, USA, as well as the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery and the Department of Periodontology, University of Bern, CH. Prof. Katsoulis has authored approximately 30 articles in high-ranked and peer-reviewed journals (Total IF>80). He serves several journals and scientific associations as a scientific reviewer.
